Managing Courses

Displaying Courses On Your Site
Unlike Events and News, you don't need to apply any settings to make Courses visible on your site. You just need to create a Course Index Page to display them.
To do so, click Sitemap in the admin sidebar and click the Add Child Page button on a page somewhere on your site (usually the homepage). Select Course Index Page from the list of page types.
In the edit form, give the page a title, select the Catalog Edition that it should display courses from, and optionally select a Division. If you don't, no courses will be displayed unless they are added to this Index manually, through the Course Management Dashboard described below. Since you're allowed to include more than one Course Index Page on a site, it may be appropriate to title the page something like "HSS Courses (2018-19)", so it can be easily differentiated from others on the Sitemap.
Add a Left Sidebar Layout block to the Body field, then give it a Course Filters block in the "Sidebar" and a Course Listing block in the "Main Section". Then, Publish the page.

You've now set up the basic way to display courses on your site. However, there is more than can be done to customize the courses that appear there.
The Course Management Dashboard
If you want to display a specific subset of courses on your site, rather than an entire Division's set of courses from a catalog edition, you'll need to use the Courses Management Dashboard.
To use it, click the Courses menu on the admin sidebar, then select Management Dashboard from the flyout menu. This dashboard lists every course in the catalog, going back several years. You can find the specific course you're looking for by searching via keyword and/or filtering by Display Location, Catalog Edition, or Associated People.

Once you've found a course that you want to manage, hover over it in the list and click the Manage Course button. The form that appears will allow you to add additional information about the course, including the Room and Hours it's taught in, the course's website, and a PDF of the course's syllabus. You can also make the course appear on any existing Course Index Page, including those with no selected Division (this is how to create a Course Index with a specific set of courses on it), give the course one or more Display Locations, or associate the course with specific Person Page(s) (which is how you get courses to appear in a Person Courses block on that person's page).
The changes made in this form will only affect the course when it is viewed on your specific site. No change is made on any other website.

Once you've selected the additions that you want to make to the course, click the green Save button, which will bring you back to the Dashboard. You will be able to see the changes you made to the course in bold on this list.
